Uus LT(Long Track) luistinmalli (30.09.1999)

Jotain uutta taas luistin rintamalla. Tämä luistin on tarkoitettu enemmän sprintteri luistelijoille, koska se rupee jo muistuttaan short-track luistinta, kovine kenkineen jossa terät on enemmän vasemmalla puolella kenkää. Klap-mekanismi on Finnin valmistama ja terän saa väännettyä kaarteeseen päin HUOMATTAVASTI helpommin ku ennen. Käykää ite tsekkaan tosta osotteesta minkälaiset härvelit ne on. (Bra)

New skate for sprinters, this skate can be bended to the curve with an inbus-key. Both blades are on the left side of the tube so the shoe won't be touching the ice that easily in the curves. The clap mech is Finn, self lubricating. The pots are adjustable back and forward on the tubes. Rumour goes that many international top sprinters will use this skate coming season. (even some of the Dutch ;-)

Rullaluistelusta(30.09.1999)

Tunnin rullimis ennätystä meinataan yrittää rikkoo, World Record Challenge tapahtumassa, San Franciskossa, 1.1km mittasella radalla Golden Gate Parkissa, 30. lokakuuta. Järjestäjät on saanu ehkä kaks potentiaalista yrittäjää, Julie Glass ja Chad Hedrick. Kaikkien harmiksi Olaf Kotva joka menee suht haipakkaa rullilla on estynyt tulemasta paikalle, koska ( ite anto 3 syytä) 1.jäällä luistelut alkaa(hyvä syy toim.huom.). 2.Paha kolari Berliinin kisassa ja siitä pikku haaveri. 3.(en muista). Eli jos joku sattuu oleen sielläpäin nii eiku kattoon. (Bra)

Uus luistelutrikoo(01.10.1999)

Mun Deventterin aikainen valmentaja Hans Veldhuis on saanut päähän piston katsellessa dokumenttia lentäjistä Discovery Channelilta ja alkanut kehittää ryhmänsä (Hans on RAPS:n omistaja) kanssa uutta parempaa trikoota. Uuden puvun materiaali on kuulemma niin hyvä, että se vähentää ilman vastusta 3-9 prossaa. Ne on tehneet täällä Calgaryssä testejä (en oo kyllä huomannu), jossa luistelijoiden läppi ajat on parantunu .3 - 2 sek. Veldhausin mukaan huippuluistelijoiden kierr. ajat voivat parantua .3 -.7 sek. Muistatte varmaan ne kummat raidat trikoissa, mitä monella luistelijalla oli Naganossa päällä. No siitä ei oo vielä tietoo voidaanko kierr aikoja vielä parantaa laittamalla nämä "raidat" uuteen pukuun. Raidoistakin on 0.5sek apu. Seuraan juttua ja laitan teille tietoo jos jotain ilmenee. Pikkulinnut kertoo, että Spaar Select Team ois jo tilannu moisen puvun.(Bra)

Just read in my newspaper:
Hans Veldhuis, a trainer/coach of the Deventer IJsclub and employee of Interraps Almelo (producer of the Raps skates) have been worken on a new speedskating suit.

The idea for the suit was formed by Veldhuis when watching a documentary at Discovery Channel which showed a jet-fighter that had rough 'sharkskin'-foil to redued it's air-resistance.

Together with his employer he has since been working on a new textile, which is covered with lower- and higher squares and can be considered as 'one giant strip'. Windtunnel research at TNO-MEP, a well reputated dutch research institute has shown that the air-resistance was indeed reduced by this new suit. Air resistance was reduced by 3 to 9 percent, compared to the Aegon-suit of the KNSB when sitting in the skating-position. Earlier research showed that air- resistance formes 80% of the total resistance experienced during speedskating. The same research showed that the resistance decrease reduced at higher air- speeds, which occurs also when skating at higher velocity. Also the research was performed on the effects of a static skating position and the exact effects on a moving speedskater are unknown.

Tests with 4 skaters (names unknown) on the Calgary OO showed laptimes decreased by .3 to 2 seconds.

Based on the results, Veldhuis expects top-skaters can skate .3 to .7 seconds per lap faster. Veldhuis doesn't know if this decrease can be added to the speeds-increase that the strips generated (which is claimed to be .5 seconds per lap). At least the suit can replace the strips.

Rullaatiluistelua(01.10.1999)

Hetki sitten kisattiin NY sata kilsaa, taas kerran. Kisa on ollu vissiin tosi kova. Lukekaa toi juttu ite en viitti suomentaa kokonaan

NY 100K lead pack... check this out,,, a-m-a-z-i-n-g,,,,, morning folks,,, had to share this with everyone,,, in NY,,, the front pack had five guys in it for the last five laps or so,,, three laps from the end, eddy was yelling for a lap count, and the pack was still working together,,, two laps out, the pace was picking up, but they were all together,,, one lap to go, and these guys were STILL TOGETHER remember, these laps are about 3.3 miles per lap,,, (19 laps total)now the finishing times,,, the front three - eddy, guenci, and mejia luis came over the line almost together (eddy was in hyperdrive the last fifty yards),,, awesome finish,,, then, we waited,,, and waited,,,, and waited,,,, and waited,,, where are the other two - did they fall??? they were ALMOST A MILE BEHIND,,, the three in front put a THREE MINUTE AND TWENTY SECOND LEAD on the other two in that IN THE LAST LAP! as i saw them coming, i was really sorry I hadn't been in a hellicopter to watch what had happened as that line broke apart in that lap, and to put a radar gun and a camera on eddy and these other two guys to watch exactly what they did - and see that acceleration curve in that last three miles,,,, check the finishing times out below.wow wow wow wow wow(these times are off the NY web site):
